This is it

This is it "Missy Times" readers. The prelude to all preludes, the beginning of the end.

This announcement is a heads-up to let you know that the upcoming issue of The Missy Times will be the last, closing chapter in the newsletter's seven year tenure.

Although this is a sad turn of events, it's also a timely one. I started The Missy Times at age eight, and now, at fifteen, I'm entering tenth grade and moving on to new writing adventures, including taking an AP English Language class and working towards getting published in other local publications.

I am currently collecting feedback for the final edition; therefore anything you would like to contribute is greatly appreciated. Things I'm looking for include: a few comments on how you started getting The Missy Times, what your favorite part was about The Missy Times, the title or subject of a memorable story you read in The Missy Times, and your reaction to The Missy Times' retirement. No need to be lengthy-- just mail or email or even telephone one or two sentences by this Friday, July 5th. That leaves you the whole week to think about it!

Please support the MT, because after this, the "CLOSED" sign is going up and it'll be no more.

More details regarding The Missy Times' departure to follow.

Isn't the detail and texture amazing?

Warhol drew the pages on silkscreen with pen and ink

Many of his sketches bear striking resemblance to early issues of the Missy Times

Thanksgiving is Sneaking Up On You!

The Holidays are slowly sneaking up on us and before we know it we'll wake up and it will be Thanksgiving Day!
Do You have:

1. A favorite Thanksgiving memory?
2. A favorite Thanksgiving Tradition you carry on every year or have just started ?
3. Something you are particularly thankful for?
4. A favorite part of Thanksgiving?

If you answered yes to any, or all of the above, write it down in a little paragraph. However long or short it is does not matter; it could be one word or five-hundred words! All the responses I get will be compiled in the next The Missy Times for a special Thanksgiving issue. We need your help!

Email your little piece to mom.and.rose@gmail.com or just comment on this post.

Here's an example:
My favorite part of Thanksgiving is gathering around the table with family, cooking up warm and yummy food, and that nice, cozy Fall feeling.

It's as easy as that!

Apple Season
------------------------
There is much to love about the sights and scents of autumn, but one
of the best parts of this season are the fresh-picked apples. There
are so many delicious dishes one can make during the apple harvest,
from apple pie, to apple bread, to apple crisp. And don't forget about
apple beverages such as hot apple cider! There are so many varieties
of apples, from Granny Smith, to Johnny Gold to Red Delicious; a
flavor and texture for just about any apple treat that you might want
to whip up. You can choose crispy, soft, tart or sweet - whatever
suites your fancy.
The best way to experience the delight of autumn apples, though, is
going to an apple orchard and picking your own bushel. It's so
enjoyable to spend a sunny autumn afternoon in an apple orchard
picking ripe apples off the branches. Even if you are short, have no
worries, because there are metal "apple picker" contraptions that look
a bit like a La Crosse sticks to help you grab the apples off the high
branches. Last year I went to an apple orchard on a sunny Sunday
afternoon, and it was just lovely to be in the countryside seeing all
of the colorful trees around us, feeling the cool autumn breeze and
harvesting fresh autumn fruits. It was an experience I would recommend
to all. So if you get a chance in the next week or so while the apples
are still fresh for picking, go harvest, prepare, and enjoy an edible
apple experience of your own!
